Rezzers on the brink after edging a classic
RESOLUTION IT are on the brink of the Premier League title after edging a classic against the defending champions at the Grammar School last night.
In arguably the best domestic top-flight game played in recent years, unbeaten ‘Rezzers’ had to withstand a fierce late Nerine Titans fightback eventually to squeeze home 67-64 after a nervy finale.
Having led by nine heading into the final quarter, Rezzers shooter Anna Burns was clearly a relieved woman come the conclusion of a match that sees her side now within a maximum of six points – two victories – of regaining the title they last won in 2016.
‘We lost our concentration in the final quarter if we are being honest and with the crowd also willing Titans on – they were like their extra player – and they came right back at us in those last few minutes,’ she said.
‘But we held out and given the fact that a couple of our players [Tiff Gervaise-Brazier and Gemma Batiste] got injured playing for Panthers at the weekend and couldn’t play, it shows the depth of our squad both in terms of versatility and quality.'
