Saffery Panthers at point of no return

SAFFERY PANTHERS are at the point of no return, admits their captain, as they prepare for their must-win relegation clash with Meon tomorrow at Beau Sejour.

Just one win in nine games thus far have left the Guernsey outfit 12 points adrift at the bottom of the table, after the two sides directly above them won last weekend.

With just five games remaining – one more than their rivals – they need a Harry Houdini-esque escape act if they are to pull themselves out of the sole automatic relegation spot.

Fortunately, though, the closest side to them in the eight-team league are Meon and they visit tomorrow in the 11.30 showdown.

A win for the visitors will leave Panthers relegated in all but name, but a win would give themselves a chance – particularly if they could restrict Meon to no losing bonus points.
