The recently crowned 2017 Betway Channel Islands Sports Personaliity of the Year faces a rematch with Connor Fanning in the top of the bill encounter at the first open show of the year.

It won’t be an easy run-out for Le Poullain, says his coach Ben Duff.

Le Poullain boxed Connor Fanning last year and won on a points decision.

‘Fanning is very tough and durable and will provide Guernsey’s star welterweight with a stern test,’ said Duff.

The two met this time last year when the visiting capped England international and regular in the latter stages of the national championships was outpointed by the local favourite.

For three rounds, Le Poullain was superb – the middle stanza of three minutes particularly so – as he used his superior footwork to outdo Fanning and also control the fight with his jab.

Aside from a brief spell deep in the third, Fanning could barely land anything of note on Le Poullain, who picked his own shots well and hurt the lad from Birmingham on numerous occasions.

All told, Saturday’s show features 11 bouts with five of them 3x3 minute rounds and 7 2x2 minute contests.
