Priaulx League’s top player will receive a £1,000 bonus
AFTER the successful and popular return of player-of-the-month awards, FNB, sponsor of the Priaulx League, has made a further commitment to local football by supporting a new award for the Priaulx Player of the Season.
On the back of the success of monthly awards, managing director of FNB Geoff Gavey was keen to introduce a new award of £1,000 that would reward the top performing player and that it should also be shared equally with his club.
‘We have seen how the Priaulx League has been really competitive over the past couple of seasons and it was fantastic that Rovers won the league last season for the first time ever,’ said Gavey.
‘There seems to be more interest in the league with any team capable of beating another team on their day.
‘This award is something for a player to aim for in terms of their consistency over the season and we are confident that Rob Batiste and the judges at the Guernsey Press sports department will choose wisely.’
Andy Robert, director of GFLM, was excited by the new initiative and gave his full backing.
‘Geoff Gavey and FNB are great partners for us to work with and their continued interest in our top tier of league football is hugely important. We think this is exciting and the fact that an individual and their club share the spoils is a win for all.’
