Tough-line Tardif will pick anew

AFTER two weeks of sleepless nights, Chris Tardif is cutting a more relaxed figure again after the relief of hurdling the Alderney obstacle.

But, he says, none of those players – including the seven newly-capped – should relax and think they are guaranteed a squad place in Jersey.

‘It’s a clean slate in terms of selection – it has to be because it’s a different challenge now facing us,’ he said yesterday.

‘There will be two or three that will come in – that’s no doubt.

‘But there are 25 players that can make that squad.’

Tardif said that he felt like a nervous parent watching his maiden Muratti XI get the better of the Ridunians.

‘It’s certainly a different kind of emotion being the other side of the white line.

‘Yes I was nervous, but in a completely different way from a playing point of view. It was a bit like seeing your children out there and wanting them to do well.’
