Burling completes his clean sweep of individual honours

DEPENDABLE Ryan Burling earned a third individual victory during the Guernsey Easter Festival’s 10km finale, and as a result appeared alongside endurance stalwart Louise Perrio as the overall winner of the festival.

The point-to-point event ran from Grandes Rocques to North Side and was hit by south-easterly winds that proved beneficial to the halfway point but made for a challenging last few kilometres.

An increasingly familiar sight played out as Burling established a hefty 30-second lead by the 2km mark and went on to win in a time of 31min. 50sec.

The battle for second and third was less predictable, with Dan Galpin, Andrew Van Kints and Alex Rowe all in immediate contention for podium positions at 2k, and with Richard Bartram heading a chasing pack just behind.

Galpin broke ahead of his rivals to take second in 34-04, with Van Kints trailing for third in 34-16.

Not far behind and in fifth overall, Elsey Davis clocked a quick time of 34-43 for first woman.

The post-event awards ceremony also acknowledged a range of new records that were set over the Easter weekend.

These included field-size records for the 5k, relays and 10k, as well as having the records rewritten for the men and women in both road races, making for an incredibly successful festival overall.
