Pereira’s timely brace in front of Muratti boss
PARIS PEREIRA’S double to sink a poor Chipstead at Footes Lane yesterday afternoon and extend the Green Lions’ unbeaten run in Bostik South to seven also serves to keep him very much in the eye of Muratti boss Chris Tardif.
Pereira, who collected his second Muratti cap in Alderney last weekend, had scored only four times in 29 Guernsey FC starts before yesterday's 2-0 win. He might easily have doubled his career tally, so many chances fell his way.
But given Tardif’s very limited choices of natural ‘9s’, this effort will have done the player no harm. The Muratti boss, who was among the GFC coaching staff here, will have no doubt been pleased to see it, as well as convincing performances from any number of Muratti hopefuls.
Yesterday’s result was the second win to go with five draws since GFC last lost – against Chipstead.
On this evidence the 613 crowd might have wondered how GFC managed that, given just how superior they were two months later.
