Younger Mahon’s return pleases
SEVEN games unbeaten – two wins and five draws – and it’s all looking much rosier in the Green Lions camp.
But can they make it three home wins in a week without star defender Jamie Dodd, who misses tomorrow’s game with Ramsgate?
Dodd, Tom de la Mare and Glyn Dyer are all out of the island for what coach Tony Vance describes as another of the ‘win-able’ games, which continues with an away trip to wooden-spoonists Shoreham on Tuesday.
‘I want to finish the season strongly and Ramsgate at home is in the category of the win-able games,’ said the coach, who was pleased with the performance on Wednesday night when Faversham Town were seen off 3-1 and there was an encouraging midfield display from the fit again Liam Mahon.
‘He needs to play [games] and if he does he can make an impact at this level,’ said his coach, who names the younger of the brothers again in a squad of 16 tomorrow.
‘It’s nice to see him back. He was fantastic at Carshalton away and he did well again the other day.
‘The first half against Faversham was really good,’ said Vance, who recalled his men battling hard for a ‘creditable draw’ at Ramsgate earlier in a campaign in which he believes they have exceeded his targets.
‘When we went on that blip mid-season I had to re-set my own targets and then it became wanting to improve on last year’s finish, which we have done already.’
