The event has been staged, under different sponsors guises, for decades and this year’s event has already seen an entry of 125 pairs including players from clubs in the UK.

Now played as a Stableford, the 2017 winners came in with 41 points and the all-women’s prize went to La Grande Mare duo Helen Banks and Rosie Scott, who scored 34.

Royal Guernsey captain Shaun McDade is looking forward to it.

‘After what’s been a pretty bad winter, the course is in very good condition thanks to some great management and work by our green staff.

‘As our first and only open competition of the year, I’m sure people will be desperate to get out and see how they fare; I just hope that the weather is kind on the day.

‘It’s great to have Logicalis on board again this year. This event always draws a strong entry and it’s lovely to welcome players from further afield.’
