Gingell wants to lift ‘Upton’ as last act as Indies captain
IZZY GINGELL is targeting the perfect way to sign off as Indies captain tomorrow.
Her side have already completed a domestic league-and-cup double this season and this weekend they aim to retain the Channel Islands club title when they host Jersey champions RWB in the women’s ‘Upton’.
‘The league was fairly tight before Christmas, but we managed to pull away after the break and got enough points to seal the win,' Gingell said.
‘I was delighted to win the cup competition, too, after losing to Cubs last season, so it means even more to me as my last season as Indies captain to win the treble at home.
‘RWB are an experienced side we have had mixed fortunes against, but I am hoping that with the strong Indies team spirit and determination at Footes Lane on Saturday we will be able to secure the victory – we want the “Upton” trophy kept safe in the cabinet at Footes Lane.’
Push back tomorrow will be at 11.45am at Footes Lane.
