Tobin still in with a shout

DESPITE doubts over his eligibility, Guernsey FC wing-back Harry Tobin has been named in a 25-man Hepburn’s Muratti Vase final training squad.

But there is no place for Green Lions central midfielder Ryan-Zico Black and the former Muratti captain, Sam Cochrane.

Island head coach Chris Tardif is one of three goalkeepers named and with the FNB Priaulx League title race playing catch-up in the coming week, the new man says he has gone for 25 to cover for the current injuries and those that almost inevitably will crop up in the rush to the end of the domestic season.

‘There’s a lot of football to played at club level and as we will be working on tactics and shapes in training I’d rather name more rather than have to draft in others who won’t be up to speed with what we are trying to do,’ said Tardif, who says he will be taking guidance from his assistants on who will win the final squad keeper’s spots both in terms of the match-day 16 and the starting XI against Jersey.

‘We start training next Thursday and will bring it down to 18 for the game against Upton Park FC.

‘After that we will name the 16 for Jersey.’
