Instigated by man-of-the-match Luke Mollet, the decisive move in the 71st minute had a bit of everything – power, pace, finesse – before it culminated in a little bit of luck.

It was no more than North deserved, though.

Mollet, who received the Rex Bennet Memorial Trophy for his individual efforts on a night when he scored one goal and made the other for his side, broke forward from the halfway line and jinked past three Rovers opponents before playing a sublime one-two with Marc McGrath, whose reverse no-look flick was exquisite.

That sent Mollet through on goal and his first time shot was destined for the bottom corner had it not been for Josh Addison’s fine diving left-handed save.

However, Sam Murray was on hand to knock in the rebound and ultimately seal victory.

‘If you want a little three- or four-man interchange to win a cup final, that wasn’t bad was it?’ said North coach William Woodford after the 2-1 success.

‘It would have been nice if Luke’s shot had nestled in the net initially rather than it get bundled in, but the build-up was the same regardless.’

After the two sides and the crowd at the Track had observed a minute’s silence in memory of Bels stalwart Keith Parkyn before the game, Rovers got off to the best possible start with Tyler McKane’s precise shot giving them the lead after only 20 seconds.

North were back on level terms on 15min. when River Marsh headed the ball back into the danger area after Rovers had only half cleared a free-kick into the box and Mollet thumped home his volley.
