Swiss timing just right for Chalmers

JUST shy of a full year from the day he blazed his way to an island record at Bedford, Cameron Chalmers has rediscovered his best form in Geneva.

On Saturday, competing at the AtleticaGeneve international meeting, the British U23 champion ran a superb 45.75sec., to grab a bronze medal behind Italian David Re and Israeli Donald Blair-Sanford.

Chalmers finished ahead of one of the famous Borlee brothers and his second fastest time ever was well inside the 46.01 posted by fellow Brit and established Olympian Martyn Rooney, who won the B race.

‘That’s more like it heading towards the business end of the season now,’ tweeted the bath based athlete later.

Meanwhile, at the South of England Championships in Bedford, sprinters Josh Allaway, Lucas Rive and Peter Curtis all posted some decent performances in the sprints.

Allaway, Guernsey’s No. 1 100m man, clocked 11.03 for that distance, while clocking 22.17 for the 200.

In the same event young Rive broke 23sec. with a 22.92, but perhaps the most satisfied of the Sarnian trio at the two-day event was Curtis who can look forward to going to the English Schools Championships after two personal bests – a 50.15 in the flat 400m and 56.15 in the 400m hurdles.
