Spurred on by the strong competition at Pond’s Forge in Sheffield, the Guernsey Swimming Club star came ever so close to gold after her breakthrough 27.28sec. performance put her just one-hundredth behind age-15 winner Samantha Diaz.

This was a big jump from her previous best of 27.82, having fallen just short of this in her heat earlier that same day, and also well clear of the earlier mark of 27.48 set by an older Courtney Butcher at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Fellow GSC swimmers Charlie Hallett and Sarah Whitchurch are also out competing in Yorkshire and have both impressed so far, with the latter receiving a medal of her own after taking second in the para 50m backstroke heats with a PB of 56.11.
