Goals galore on either side of the Grand Fort Road

A DOMINANT first-half performance ensured Rovers reached the Jeremie Cup quarter-finals last night.

But, on a night when several neutrals were in attendance at Northfield perhaps anticipating an upset, it was across the Grand Fort Road at the Corbet Field where the real story was unfolding in the other first-round tie of the evening as Bels knocked out their hosts Vale Rec in a 4-3 thriller.

It ended in highly dramatic fashion, too, as Rec had fought back from being 3-0 down to goals from Ben Ogier (two) and Chris Young to draw level with strikes from Zach Masterton-Pipet, Tomos Ap Sion and Rory Moriarty only for Billy Page to snatch victory for the visitors in the last minute.

The action was nothing like as frenetic at Northfield, though, where Sam Hall returned to inspire the reigning Priaulx League champions to a 4-1 victory over a Manzur side without the class of both Malcolm Symons and Gareth Holden.
