Gauvain’s ‘worldie’ good enough to win any match
A WONDER goal from 17–year-old Charlton Gauvain, a brilliant defensive display and a good dollop of luck saw the Green Lions win for the second time in a week and climb into ninth place in the early Bostik South East table.
The beach weather saw the Lions pull in just 562 to ‘The Lane’ but those there will never forget Gauvain’s late, late goal which he struck from the halfway circle to catch Ramsgate keeper Luke Watkins off his line.
It really was a ‘worldie’ that stunned the visitors.
It arrived in the 90th minute and doubled the lead given to the Green Lions by Kyle Smith early in the first half.
Ramsgate hit back immediately as Harry Stannard forced the ball home to make for a nervy last 5min., but the hosts held on to win 2-1.
