The Sarnians are through to next year’s Europe Finals after finishing their ICC World T20 Europe Qualifier campaign with four wins from five matches in the Netherlands to finish second behind unbeaten Norway in Group C with both sides promoted.

The all-important victory came on Saturday morning when Guernsey extended their winning start to three matches with a six-wicket success over Sweden.

Having restricted their opponents to 107 with three wickets apiece for Luke Le Tissier, Will Peatfield and David Hooper, Guernsey chased down their target with three balls to spare with Josh Butler playing a captain’s innings, finishing unbeaten on 52 to see his side home.

After a quick turnaround, the Sarnians were back in action on Saturday afternoon against Norway in the clash of the unbeaten two, but, batting first for the first time in the tournament, the Greens were only able to post 90 for 7 from their 20 overs which the Norwegians chased down for the loss of five wickets with 21 balls remaining.

However, Guernsey finished on a high yesterday with a 122-run thrashing of the Czech Republic as Matt Stokes hit 80 out of his side’s 181 before the opposition were skittled for 59.
