Following a few stabs at his own marks over the longer distances of 25 and 50 miles, the Guernsey Velo Club star’s 20min. 23sec clocking last Sunday was a decent improvement on his previous shared mark of 20-59.

This elevated the Commonwealth Games rider one leap closer to his local target of teen digits for the distance, which in turn would threaten Sarnian pro James McLaughlin’s outright island mark of 19-55.

Meanwhile, second-placed Anthony Bleasdale’s 21-25 came close to the club V40 record in what was overall a good day for quick times.

The local time trial season will conclude with one more 10-miler then a 25 on 23 September.
