Commitment levels cheer boss Vance

CARLOS CANHA returns to the Guernsey FC team at Horsham tomorrow and Tony Vance’s unexpected problem – given the timing – is who to leave out of the squad.

Star defender Frank Tobin has made the boss’s decision a little easier by being unavailable, but other than arguably the side’s player of the season to date, everyone is committed to travelling and that pleases Vance no end.

‘The response for a New Year’s Day game is great and is fantastic to see the commitment from everybody,’ said the man who in the past has almost had to beg, steal and borrow players to travel at Christmas.

The coach’s other issue is who to pair Jamie Dodd with in central defence.

Jacob Fallaize may be back from America for several weeks and is the best option aerially, but Vance sees a bigger picture in which he does not want to give the metaphoric two fingers to players who train and commit, week in, week out for extended periods.
