Loaring grabs point at Horsham
MATT LOARING headed a dramatic late equaliser as the Green Lions grabbed an unlikely point at Horsham yesterday afternoon.
Tony Vance’s side look sunk when they bowed to pressure and went behind on 76 minutes, but with time running out fast Loaring headed home from Will Fazakerley’s cross.
The point gained was not enough to lift the Green Lions out of 15th spot in the Bostik South East table, but it was a well-earned one against a side pushing for promotion and who would have gone third had they held on for the three points.
O’Toole’s tap in from a yard out looked to have broken GFC hearts who had produced a determined backs-to-the-wall effort.
The Green Lions created few clear chances in the opening 45, but Carlos Canha, who had already stung the hands of the Horsham keeper, had a header blocked on the line and in stoppage time Charlton Gauvain volleyed just wide of goal.
The visitors started the second half better and Gauvain forced a save by the Horsham No. 1, but as the half wore on Horsham created ever more chances and it was no surprise when they finally got their noses in front.
