Saints increase their advantage by a point

ST MARTIN’S extended their lead at the top of the FNB Priaulx League to six points points last night, but their nearest rivals Alderney and Rovers might well think that North have done them a favour.

The 1-1 draw means Alderney can now draw level with Saints if they win their two games in hand on the leaders.

A share of the spoils was a fair enough result at Northfield, where the action was frenetic throughout on a bumpy pitch that ensured neither side ever really had the upper-hand for any significant length of time.

To be fair, though, once Saints had equalised Mario Cacace's first-half opener through Chris Le Noury's header with 25 minutes remaining, both sides went all out for a winner with neither prepared to settle for a point until referee George Jennings brought an end to proceedings.
