Green holds her nerve to gain Panthers a draw

NO single moment has defined Saffery Panthers’ season more than Jemma Green’s crunch-time goal against Weston Park Blades Two.

The home side were teetering on the brink of a loss at full-time but, to rapturous applause from a packed home crowd, the star shooter successfully pulled back in a momentary resumption to salvage a 44-44 draw and keep a hairline advantage over their South Division Three rivals in the league standings.

Panthers now go on as they started, just one point ahead of Blades and battling valiantly for promotion.

‘I was really proud of how the girls did today and particularly that last shot, that was so much pressure on a shooter.That’s what we want our shooter to do – to be able to stand up and win matches for us, and Jem just nailed that for us today,’ Panthers captain Nena Copperwaite said.
