North out of luck on KGV 3G

STRANGER CUP holders North bowed out of the competition and probably thought good riddance to the KGV 3G where their luck this past fortnight has been wretched.

Seven days after leaving the ground wondering just how on earth they failed to score against Saints, their fortune was not much improved against Rovers and just when they thought they might win a point, only their second in three round-robin games, defender Chris Le Cheminant turned the ball into his own net from eight yards and they were out.

Just as was the case against St Martin’s, North matched the league champions but got no reward, other than fewer yellow cards than their opponents on a day when Ray Green was dishing out cautions left, right and centre.

By the last count it was eight and the majority of them issued in the face of Rovers who, with this second win in four days, look in good shape to qualify.

It finished 3-2 with Sam Hall and Will Fazakerley netting the first two Rovers goals while Scott Bougourd scored both North's goals.
