Facing a rival green outfit in the important South Division Three match, Panthers just about pulled off the win despite starting depleted in both confidence and first-choice representation.

The absence of their own top Green – star goal shooter Jemma Green – and of defender Lorna Hall proved troublesome, but Donna Brehaut filled the GS spot as Zola Saunders and Ella Staples excelled further back.

‘We just wanted to play patiently today – last weekend [against Woodley], we were guilty of just forcing stuff,’ the Panthers captain said.

‘We obviously had a different set-up with Donna coming in today as well, so it was just [a case of] finding our feet to start with.

‘Last weekend our third quarter was one of our worst and generally it is, so we said we want to go back to the beginning, score’s nil-nil, and just go back out with all the energy as if it’s the start of the match.

‘It’s just patience for the team – we just want to take ball to goal and that’s it.’
