The Guernsey Kart and Motor Club president and award-winning organiser will shortly welcome an improved turnout of 32 racers, including defending champion Ross Le Noa of Jersey, to the hotly-anticipated two-day event.

He hopes the different challenges faced each day will help mix things up for the drivers.

‘Friday night will be more for power, Saturday will be for the power a little bit but mainly for the driver ability,’ said Marshall.

‘We’re giving them everything this year, fast stages generally, but loads of things to hit – not that we want them to hit it, but they’ve all been based on trying to level the playing field out.

‘We’re starting on Friday night so they have to be careful, they’ve still got to be in the race on Saturday rather than all crashing out.’

Racing begins on Friday evening with two lower-parish stages in the north, at L’Islet and Mont Cuet respectively.

It will then head to higher ground the following morning with a stage at St Andrew’s, weaving through the lanes near Fauxquets Valley, while a twisty jaunt around the reservoir area of St Saviour’s completes the morning programme.

These two courses will be run in the opposite direction on the Saturday afternoon session in the weekend's final challenge.
