Vance left fuming at lack of penalty

TONY VANCE slammed referee Jonathan Creswick for denying his side three strong penalty shouts on Saturday as former Brentford star Charlie MacDonald sunk Guernsey FC with a hat-trick at Footes Lane.

A late home revival failed to save the GFC from a 4-3 defeat which keeps them looking over their shoulders in the fight against relegation.

Vance made a point of telling Creswick what he thought of his performance as the officials disappeared into the quiet of their changing room in the Garenne Stand.

‘The last one [on the line] hit his hand, “Doddy” had a blatant penalty in the first half but the frustrating thing is that they gave a soft one for Glyn, a block, and we had two blocks [against us] using the same part of the body,’ he said.

‘The first half they were much better than us, they pressed us and harassed us into mistakes. We got sloppy.

‘We gave away some cheap possession, we were a little bit weak and when you’ve got a finisher like Charlie MacDonald ... outstanding.

'But we had chances and in the second half we gifted that fourth which killed us a little bit.

‘But credit to us, we deserved a little bit from the second half. We gave it a go.’
