Loaring stays positive

ONE from six and, the serious news is, Guernsey FC could be that one.

The relegation door is looking ever closer for Guernsey FC but star striker Matt Loaring is confident they can get out of trouble, although he is mystified as to why the team is under-performing at home, the latest loss being a 10th in 14 at The Lane.

‘I can’t out my finger on it why we have been so poor at home, but perhaps it is expectation and slight pressure caused by that,’ he said.

‘We should be more comfortable at home.

‘It’s frustrating, because we’ve had some really good performances away from home.

‘But when we’ve played well we’ve tended to only draw games.’

The Green Lions slipped to 17th spot in the Bostik South East League after their 4-3 loss against VCD Athletic and only Three Bridges, who sit one place above, are displaying worse form than the Green Lions over the last six games. While Three Bridges have picked up just a point over that period, GFC have just two away draws to their name.

Something needs to improve quickly, admits Loaring, who sits 13th in the South East league scorers list on 12 goals, 11 behind the man whose clinical hat-trick shot down the Lions on Saturday, one Charlie MacDonald.
