Tremlett breaks L'Eree time trial record
A RELAXED approach did Seb Tremlett no harm as he glided along to a new course record at the L’Eree Circuit Time Trial, writes Jamie Ingrouille.

Tremlett’s record was one of three set on Sunday on a rarely-ridden course that spans 23.3 miles over three laps, each circuit taking in a major climb of Imperial Hill.
The star time-trialist rode negative splits to cover the course in 50min. 39sec., almost a minute inside Jack English’s previous best, speeding up subtly with each passing.
‘It’s my first ride of the season; I was happy to get something done and not worry about it,’ said Tremlett, whose main target is the National Time Trial on 27 June.
‘It’s not a 10 or a 25TT so you don’t have such a benchmark, and it’s just about going out and having a crack at it.
‘The negative split is always good as you never know if you’re going to blow up later – but the last lap, I did not think it would be that much quicker.’
Aaron Bailey was second with a new V40 record of 54-58, his second mark in a month, with Marc Cox and Anthony Bleasdale coming within a minute of this for the next two spots.
Karina Bowie, who had also earned veterans’ record honours in the season-opening 15TT, pushed down her own ladies’ V45 mark and came close to the all-time ladies’ mark with 62-12. Marina Bleasdale and Danielle Hanley were the next two women.
