Last night’s long-awaited clash at Grammar School was perfectly set up between the two season-long rivals, with the winner guaranteed the highest Winter League prize on offer.

Blaze initially had the clear upper hand after a succession of early goals with little retaliation, but the slow-starting Rezzers soon got into the game to cap the deficit to 16-13 at the quarter.

There was only one point in it at half-time following a great comeback from the rallying Greens, who soon worked themselves into a highly favourable position to enter the final quarter 44-40 ahead.

Blaze owed their title triumph to a composed finish, where they stormed ahead and maintained a marginal lead to the decisive whistle, winning 55-53.

The sharp shooting of Blaze’s Jemma Green earned her player-of-the-match honours, reflected by Rezzers’ Abby Bisson in the opposing role.
