There won’t be a first cap for Manzur striker Marlon Jardim after he was stood down by the island boss on the grounds that he was away and unavailable to make any of the training get-togethers ahead of this Saturday’s representative friendly against Upton Park FC.

The free-scoring Jardim was missed by his club side at Northfield last night where they went down 3-0 to the newly-crowned champions in the Rossborough Guernsey FA Cup quarter-final.

Saints again made a stack of changes while Manzur called on GFC star Frank Tobin.

Against prior suggestions there was no Dave Rihoy or Craig Young in the Manzur starting side who fell a goal behind after 25 minutes, woefully failing to mark up at a Jake Lowe corner and fellow U18 Brad O’Regan heading powerfully home.

It became 2-0 on 37min. when Tobin went on a run up through the middle only to tread on the ball and possession was turned over.

Saints broke and one good pass later Cal Le Lacheur was in to finish coolly past Jordan Kelly.

Lucas Meza added a third on 73min. to put the tie to bed.

A second quarter-final is also played at Northfield tonight, featuring Rovers and Rihoy North. Kick off 7.30.
