The 31-year-old, who took up the sport less than three years ago having been an island representative at both football and basketball, defeated former champion Kay Mapley 7 & 6 in yesterday’s 36-hole final at La Grande Mare.

‘Overall, I’m very, very happy that all that time and effort for two-and-a-half years is coming to fruition,’ Vaudin said.

‘My plan was five years to get into the island team. Now the ultimate plan is that I want to be in the Island Games team ... that is the plan, to be one of the four who gets the honour of doing that.

‘If not, I’ll message Pat Ogier and see if I can get back in with basketball,’ she joked.
