The 10-team event in Anglesey will be Chris Tardif’s first tournament as Guernsey manager and he said that he chased James Hamon to feature after it became clear Martin would not be fit.

‘Jason has been injured and that is the reason why he missed the FA Cup final.

‘He is due to have a scan on his wrist,’ added Tardif, who broached the subject with the recently-released Exeter keeper while discussing the 23-year-old’s future playing options with him.

Hamon, 23, who joined Exeter in 2013 and went on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, was happy to accept the invite and will now vie for the keeper’s jersey with the highly promising Kyle De Garis, who has been playing at Kidderminster Harriers.

Guernsey, who are in a three-team group with St Helena and Shetland Isles, who they face in their opening game on Monday 17 June, claimed bronze at the Island Games football tournament in Gotland two years ago and gold in 2015.
