However, not for the first time this season, the Rocque Balan Royals were anxiously left waiting on the calculations of bonus points to confirm the narrowest of victories over their L’Ancresse Martellos neighbours in the second ‘Northern Derby’ of the campaign on Monday evening.

Both sides won two rubbers apiece, but it was the comprehensive nature of the both the Royals wins as well as the only losing bonus of the evening that swung the tie in Tom Le Huray’s side’s favour.

The foursomes pairing of Emile Thompson and Roland Mills secured a bonus-point victory for the defending champions, as did Jeremy Nicolle in the singles.

The Martellos' wins came from the pairing of Tim Carter and Tom Pattimore as well as Sam Le Huray in the singles.
