‘WhatsApp?’ – A Bels revolution is

MARC MCGRATH does not rule out more additions to the big Bels player revolution, possibly the biggest single influx to one FNB Priaulx League club in more than 50 years when Vale Rec were transformed almost overnight.

McGrath, who has been at the heart of the player talks and is coming out of brief retirement, said yesterday that he was excited and ‘really chuffed’ at recent developments, including Sam Cochrane, Joby Bourgaize, Ollie Smith, Brent Marquand and Chris King all putting pen to paper at the weekend, so soon after several other good signings had joined the blue-and-whites.

‘Getting all of my close friends back together is brilliant for me and also for the club,’ he said yesterday.

‘It all started when Damian Le Tocq signed and that got me thinking. I ended up talking to a few lads and we soon got together a “WhatsApp” group, which seems to be what you do these days.’

In total, there have now been 10 additions to the club and among them is a return for their former defensive stalwart Cochrane who has come forward with some bullish online comments, as well as joining the club committee.

On Bels social media the former Muratti skipper said: ‘In life you simply have to follow your heart. Everything began to feel right as we all started conversations to return to the club we love.

‘Selfishly we have all been chasing our playing ambitions elsewhere. Now selflessly, we return to give back to this awesome club.

‘We will, together, rebuild this club and I refuse not to succeed. Team work will make this dream succeed.’
