Skillen, previously with Vale Rec, has joined Sylvans, where last week Kyle Smith was recruited.

And with fellow Rec man Tomos Ap Sion and the Saints reserve keeper Nick Batiste also putting pen to paper at St Peter’s, the Westerners have picked up an entire XI in the past four days.

‘I’m very pleased with what has happened this past week,’ said Sylvans coach Martyn de Garis.

‘It’s terrific for the club and I can’t wait for us to get started,’ he added.

Previous signings include, as well as Smith, the highly-promising Rovers pair of keeper Seb Sheppard and striker Thiago Rodrigues.

Meanwhile, it is understood Colin Fallaize will coach the Island U16s side which makes its bow in next season’s FA County Youth Cup.

The U18s will also contest their age-group County Cup and are away at Kent in the first round.

In Jersey, Jersey were defeated 5-0 by Exeter City at Springfield on a night that Reds’ stalwart Stuart André got to lead Jersey out one last time.

It was a recognition match for the talented defender, who has given so much to the Jersey FA over the years, and while a win would have been an excellent send-off, goals from Ryan Bowman (two), Pierce Sweeney, Lee Holmes and Ben Seymour put paid to any hopes of an underdog victory.

Jersey manager Martin Cassidy said:

‘I thought we tried to play our football but we gave away a couple of sloppy goals. They punished us with some clinical finishes and when you are up against professional opposition like that it is a reality check for where we are. I thought we stayed in the game but didn’t threaten enough in the last third.

‘It’s really good to have a side like Exeter over.’
