Despite both racing for the Multimatic Motorsports outfit in the fifth round of the championship, unfolding on Belgium’s renowned Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the circumstances could scarcely be more different for the Sarnian stars.

On the one hand, father Andy will enjoy a one-off drive in the No. 19 Ford Mustang alongside one of his heroes – legendary track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.

Andy has much previous experience at Spa and enjoyed two outings there in the 2018-19 World Endurance Championship Super Season.

Meanwhile, young Seb and experienced partner Scott Maxwell currently head the GT4 drivers’ standings by some way in their No. 15 Mustang.

They are enjoying a healthy lead of 8.5 points from HHC’s Dean MacDonald and Callum Pointon after an excellent showing at Donington Park.

The 18-year-old has not yet raced at the venue and said: ‘To say I’m excited is an understatement’.

For Andy, who will compete in a Pro-Am pairing, his son’s high standing in the championship only adds further excitement to the race.

‘This will be a great weekend for me as, for the first time, I shall be racing in the same team as my son,’ he said.

‘I am usually there on the sidelines spurring him on, as he is racing in the championship with Scott Maxwell, but this weekend I may be a little busier with my own driving.

‘It is a real honour to be sharing the No. 19 car with Chris and I can assure you we are going out there to be competitive.’

Free practice and qualifying on the technical 7km track takes place on Saturday, before the following day’s race goes under way at 11.30am BST.
