GFC announce return of Ross Allen
GUERNSEY FC have possibly the biggest boost they could have hoped for going into the new BetVictor South East season – the return of Ross Allen.
The man who has scored 239 in 226 games for the Green Lions is on his way back from his New Zealand adventure having experienced the high of reaching the Fifa Club World Cup during his time away from the island playing for Team Wellington.
With GFC scheduled to begin their new campaign on Saturday 17 August, it could hardly have come at a better time for them.
'I have been speaking to Ross for a few months now and I'm absolutely delighted that he has confirmed he is coming back and can commit to playing for us once again,' said GFC manager Tony Vance.
'We often talk about having our hands tied behind our backs, but I would suggest the rope has loosened with this news.
'Ross is all about goals and that's an area of our game we need some help with. We are regaining probably the best striker in the league in terms of goals scored.
'We have got some really good young players in our squad now and he will complement what we have got in other areas of the pitch.
'This gives us a real chance to start looking up the league rather than looking over our shoulder.'
