Guernsey have to find a way of scoring against quality bowling

ASH WRIGHT has challenged his Guernsey batsmen to find ways to score runs against disciplined bowling.

His island squad had a useful run out against the Sussex Academy at the KGV on Sunday, bowling the visitors out for 197 with Tom Veillard picking up 5 for 46 before finishing on 164 for 8 in reply in the 50-over contest.

‘For us, it was a great work-out,’ said Wright.

‘The difference between club cricket and this type of cricket is massive, which is why we need to play these games.

‘The big thing that we identify in club cricket is that you know you’re going to get a few balls to hit – in an over you might get three poor balls to hit – but suddenly when you are not getting those balls, you’ve still got to score – it’s one-day cricket.’
