Defeat for Farmers-Caesareans at the hands of Old Victorians at the weekend has left the door ajar for either of Guernsey’s top two club sides to reach the showpiece.

Both Cobo and Griffins have lost two games each – the same amount as Farmers-Caesareans and Old Victorians – while St Ouen Springfield are now favourites to finish top of the pile have lost just the once.

The two Guernsey teams will face each other on the final weekend of the round-robin at the KGV. In Jersey, Farmers-Caesareans take on Walkover while St Ouen Springfield meet Old Victorians.

In other words, there is still plenty to play for and calculators will be at the ready.

It was a familiar story for Griffins on Saturday against Wanderers Irregulars as they found themselves trying to salvage a defendable score after the loss of early wickets, but this time they were unable to pull off a great escape.

Although Tom Kirk again did his best to dig his side out of the large hole of being 44 for 4, gaining good support form young opener Nathan Le Tissier in that quest, Wanderers restricted them to 154 before knocking off the runs with something to spare.

Meanwhile, in Jersey Josh Butler made 79 as Cobo won by six wickets against Walkovers.

The home side made 167 for 8 at Granville with Nat Watkins scoring 86.

Cobo chased it down inside 37 overs after being given an excellent start by Butler and Alex Bushell.
