Chalmers gets 4x400 relay spot in ‘Worlds’ team

CAM CHALMERS will be part of the Great Britain team in Doha for the IAAF World Championships, but he will only go in the 4x400 relay and not the individual flat 400, writes Rob Batiste.

Chalmers finished ahead of Newham & Essex Beagles’ Rabah Yousif at the recent British championships and World trials in Birmingham, but it was insufficient to displace Yousif from one of the two available spots, national champion Matthew Hudson-Smith having guaranteed his position with a world-class performance.

The Guernseyman, who has a season's best of 45.84sec. compared to Yousif's 45.23, is one of seven in the relay squad, but almost a certain starter.

A total of 72 Brits were confirmed yesterday for the championships in Qatar which run from 27 September to 6 October.
