Sub Smith fires Reds to third

SYLVANS are up to third in the table and Vale Rec still without a point in five FNB Priaulx League matches this season after the Westerners triumphed 2-1 at the Corbet Field last night.

Sylvans left Kyle Smith on the bench after tweaking a calf for the league XI in the UK, but it was the recent GFC man who settled matters with a fine 77th minute strike.

Vale had a surprise starter in Naro Zimmerman, who had joined the Bels revolution briefly, played one game, heroically swam 24 hours for charity and then transferred back to his former club on Monday.

Defender Sam Le Huray scored a rare goal to quickly cancel out Simon Arnold’s early opener and in the second period good chances went begging at both ends before sub Smith hit a second with 13minutes left and very nearly added another with a thunderbolt as Sylvans finished the stronger.
