Watson has won 12 of his 15 professional bouts and his crowning moment came last year in Sheffield when he dispatched the previously undefeated Loua Nassa to clinch the English super-flyweight title.

The 29-year-old ‘Glamour Boy’ informed his social media fan-base of his retirement yesterday after failing to fully rekindle his career under the wing of Goodwin Boxing.

‘It’s been a good ride, had highs and lows, never forget them memories,’ he wrote.
