As per ‘Inter’ in Italy, Sevenoaks are challenging hard for the title and they arrived knowing what it is like to win at Footes Lane, which they did nine months ago.

But this is a whole different Guernsey FC side. More resilient, more confident, more skilled and, of course, it has Ross Allen back in the ranks.

What a difference one player can make and his 21st minute goal proved the difference in a 1-0 victory for the hosts.

But this was no one-man show.

Indeed, goalkeeper Cal Stanton fully deserved his man-of-the-match award. The man from Bournemouth was brilliant.

And ahead of him, the back three were outstanding.

There was quality everywhere and the performance had, rightly, Tony Vance purring with satisfaction.
