‘We’re in the mix’ says Vance after draw with Hastings United

TONY VANCE was frustrated that one point was not three on Saturday, but added that such thoughts just show how much his Guernsey FC side have progressed this season.

A brilliant team goal finished off by Charlton Gauvain’s header brought GFC level with high-flying Hastings United at Footes Lane before Ross Allen put the Green Lions ahead from the penalty spot, but the visitors extended their unbeaten run thanks to Daniel Ajakaiye’s strike that made the result 2-2.

‘Let’s summarise it. We’ve played first and second, and we’re in winning positions in both games with 10 minutes to go. I’ve just said to the lads, “we’ve got to get used to the fact that we’re in this, we’re in the mix”,’ said Vance.

‘We are on a solid run at the moment, but let’s have a look at it – Hastings had one player out today, we had about five of our group, big players, so let’s not forget we are a unit now and we are in the mix by rights. It’s up to us now to sustain it.’
