ELISE MERTENS gained her revenge on Heather Watson today at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Less than a week after losing to the Guernsey player in the quarter-finals of the Hobart International where the Belgian was the defending champion at the time, the 16th seed outclassed the Sarnian in the second round of the first Grand Slam event of the year.
Mertens took less than an hour to emerge a 6-3, 6-0 winner with Watson looking very flat only a day after her impressive first-round victory over Kristyna Pliskova.
