Early goals help North to move eight points clear

BELS avoided their recently fashionable thrashing at the hands of the league leaders and should take some heart from a battling effort in the Northfield chill.

But, it seems, there is no stopping this current chocolate-and-blues side, who seem to win even when they don’t play well, like on Saturday in their 2-1 victory.

Not that North associates will care too much about the style, it is three points that carry them further clear of St Martin’s that counted.

As for the blue-and-whites, it is one thing being emotionally fired up by the suggestion that they have become North’s whipping boys, it is another being able to do something about it.

To a certain extent they did, but when they were two down in 18 minutes you feared for them.

Danny Hale and Charlie Le Prevost scored those North goals before Brent Marquand halved the deficit.

In the weekend's other FNB Priaulx League games, there was a 2-0 win for Sylvans over Manzur while Rovers edged out Rangers 2-1.
