With Billy Le Poullain out ill and Chris Sumner unfortunately left without an appropriate opponent, former England Junior ABA champion Baker now headlines Guernsey’s 11-bout challenge against a strong Liverpool contingent at St Pierre Park.

Baker, previously Demore, took eight years out before returning last July and will continue his comeback bid after losing three months ago at the Beau Sejour ‘Slugfest’.

Amalgamated Boxing Club head coach Ben Duff is looking forward to seeing how the middleweight fares against North Mersey’s Joseph Moylan.

‘He’s up against a competent lad who likes to fight on his front foot, which should make for an excellent contest,’ said Duff.

‘This is an opportunity for Gage to captain the team and headline the event, which will be his second outing since 2011.

‘Gage is improving all the time and is gradually shaking off the rust after an eight-year absence.

‘Gage missed the last show through injury, which set him back a bit, but he’s looking sharp and it’s a case of transferring what he’s doing in sparring into competition.’
