Titans set their sights on the leaders after big win

THE rising Titans hit that repeat performance against the Premier Division champions and are now raring for next week’s grand challenge against the current leaders.

After their breakthrough 53-31 win against Blaze three weeks ago, Donna Brehaut’s side have gone from strength to strength and they proved even more dominant at Les Beaucamps High on Tuesday night.

Conversely, opposing captain Nena Copperwaite took in her stride a nearly comical 54-24 loss that she considered ‘possibly our worst-ever Blaze performance’.

A slew of unforced errors amplified Blaze’s losses and they had not been reluctant to crack a few chuckles at the direness of the situation after trailing 13-3 at the quarter.

Brehaut’s girls shone throughout and will next Tuesday face leaders Resolution IT Green, against whom they finished within four goals last November, seeking another upset.

‘We really want to try and build on this performance going into that game,’ said captain Brehaut.

Titans’ swift attack dominated the shooting circle as goal-shooter Kerri Brown and goal-attack Steph Batiste made full use of skilful feeding from their teammates.

On the other end, veteran goalkeeper Lorna Hall and her fellow defenders claimed numerous rebounds and generally made life tricky for the struggling Blaze shooters.

Brehaut was one proud captain.

‘This side of the Christmas break, we’ve been really happy with our performance,’ she said.

‘We’re getting that consistency now in terms of combinations we’re putting out on court.

‘I think that’s been key in that we can play as a unit and try out those combinations that work best, especially in our attacking end.’
