This unprecedented triumph occurred on Tuesday night as Donna Brehaut’s side made a surprise breakaway in the second quarter and held on to pinch a 51-47 victory.

At Les Beaucamps High School, the in-form Titans had excelled through the court and played to their strengths for the entirety of the hard-fought Premier Division battle.

Yet captain Brehaut reserved her best praise for their proven mobile shooting duo of Kerri Brown and Steph Batiste.

‘They were on fire and rarely missed,’ she said.

‘It was an excellent performance from them and the whole team and it was a very physical game – we’re really pleased with how we played, definitely.

‘We have taken confidence in how we played in the last few games,’ added a delighted Brehaut ahead of next Tuesday’s big clash with leading women’s team Resolution IT Green.

Brehaut will unfortunately miss that match due to work commitments but tips Lydia McClean, who has impressed following some time out, as a likely starter.

Sanguine men’s coach and GNA president Gill Queripel added: ‘It’s good for the boys as well – about time somebody beat them.’
