Tokyo 2020 will begin on 23 July 2021, just 12 days after the ‘Euros’ finish, and the 400m hurdler still eyes a Guernsey 2021 NatWest Island Games appearance that month.

‘If I qualify for the Olympics and it collides with Euro U23s, there wouldn’t even be a question of what I’d commit to,' he said.

'The Olympics is the peak of any competition so that will come first.

'The Island Games should be fine as it’s even before the U23s, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.'
